Bundle of Joy

Hi friends!
Sorry so long without a post. Life is busy, full, and blessed.

I was able to sneak in some crafting with this card.  My sister had a baby shower to attend on Saturday, and I needed an excuse to craft ;)

The pattern paper is from October Afternoon's "Midway" collection, and I just love it.  The stamp is one of the oldest in my stash and my go-to for baby cards.  I cut the little banner at the bottom on my Big Shot (one of my favorite tools) using the pennant set from Spellbinders.

Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.
Proverbs 8:32

May your day be blessed!

Going for Broke: Crafting on a Budget, CAS & Welcoming Baby

Good grief! I have just gone through a painful review of my spending, and the craft craziness has got to be contained! Not to mention, my stash has taken over. There is so much to dig through that an excavation is required to find what I'm looking for. And forget getting it all put back away. *sigh* I was able to donate a box of goodies to charity and give another to a friend, but that barely made a dent.

Sooooo, I've resolved (I mean it this time!) to use more of my stash and keep my spending in check. Praise the Lord for free digital images! (And for the CDAC Digi Club! I signed up for the whole year, and it works out to less than $1 per digi. Woohoo!)

This card was made with a free image from Mami Doodles called "Baby In Pram" which was offered on Crafters Digital Art Center in April. My church's Assistant Pastor & his wife just welcomed their 4th son, and this is the card I made & gave to welcome baby Samuel.

Not that I've ever been one who could sucessfully pile on the embellies, but I am trying to explore the Clean & Simple (CAS) style more. (Still mustering up the courage to try a one-layer card.) So granted there isn't a ton going on on this card, but everything I used came from my stash. I'm especially proud about the alpha stickers, which have been waiting for over 5 years to be used.

Thanks for stopping by & taking a look today. I'll be back soon(ish) with cards for Father's Day and a bridal shower. ((((HUGS)))) & Blessings!

Welcome, Monkey!

Confession: I love Sock Monkeys! I don't know what it is about them. I didn't have one as a kid, but I absolutely love those red lipped little primates!

So I was tickled to learn that we had a new baby boy to celebrate in the Sisterhood, because, besides the obvious blessing, it was a chance to crack into this paper collection and ink up my fave baby stamp. I can't resist putting buttons on the wheels of the carriage. Something about babies and buttons.

Oh Baby, Baby

A while back, my pal Michelle became a G-ma for the first time to twin cuties Chase and Evan. But long before that miraculous event, sweetie-pie Karen had the idea for our little group of stamping friends to each make a page or two for a g-ma scrapbook to commemorate this amazing blessing. I was both thrilled and honored to participate.

It was a first for me on many levels: 1. my first baby layouts, 2. the first time working without the photos, 3. the first time contributing to a multi-contributor scrap project, 4. my first experience working with an 8x8 format.

We knew we were scrapping for twin boys, so I tried to stay with a color scheme that was boyish without losing the sweet innocence of newborns. The green matting is sized to accomodate 4x6 photos, with the photo corners attached to (hopefully) allow a photo to be tucked underneath. I combined 2 shades of chalk pigment ink on the Tim Holtz Grungeboard alphabet letters & numbers for the titling. The journaling squares were made using a dotted stripe SU! wheel, and I mixed in some dimensional die-cut accents for added interest. It's a very simple element, but my favorite part is the yellow strip made with the Fiskars Threading Water border punch and placed at an angle on each page. I tried to balance the elements on each page without being too "matchy-matchy", mirroring some things while mixing up others.

I had a lot of fun working on this project, and hope the the proud G-ma likes it as well.

Firsts

Finally, a card post!

This was for my BFF's son's 1st B-day! And also, the first time using this stamp and stitching a card - not faux stitching! Actual stitching with thread and needle. I roughed up this card quite a bit, and boy was it fun! (Pun intended!) ETA: I hope you know I meant the sewing to be messy! LOL! Oh, and I can't sew with a machine (just not that gifted!), so it was done by hand. Not nearly as bad as it sounds!

I had another b-day card to post, but alas, auto focus was not my friend and it didn't turn out :(

Hoping to get some more creations cranked out for your viewing pleasure soon!
