Mother's Day 2012

Whether you are a Daughter, Mom, or both, I hope you had a wonderfully blessed Mother's Day.
Here's the card I made for my mom, who is just awesome and then some.
I was in a bit of a pinch because my craft room was being painted last week and today the carpet is being cleaned, and then finally tomorrow I can begin moving things back in and reorganizing. I'm sure some purging will take place as well. ;)  But that's for a later post.  I only mention it here because aside from the sentiment inside, this card is stamp and digi-free, and the main bits (paper, chipboard letters, wood frame, stickers) came from Studio Calico kits, which I love and adore completely!

And the rest came from stash that never quite got put away (Crate Paper chipboard flower, ribbons, Doodlebug button, and PTI twine).

I often get overwhelmed by the amount of stash shtuff I've accumulated, but I also was a little panicked not having access to it all.  But it worked out so perfectly, that the limited supplies situation was truly a blessing.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God,
Romans 8:28a

Even the little things, like making a card for my mom.

Enjoy your day. May it be blessed, and may you use it to be a blessing to others.

Ooops - Almost forgot to note that this is my entry for the Stampin' Sisters In Christ Challenge #139 to use an animal, bird, or bug in your creation.  The challenge theme was inspired by Genesis 6:20.

Unity FWF: 'Wool' you be my valentine?

Hi peeps! It's Friday, and that means it's time for Unity Friends With Flair!

I can't tell you how tickled I was when I signed up for KOM in November and found 'Love Ewe' tucked in with my kit. Lambs (lamby-kins) are a thing for me and my mom, and I knew right away I would use this cute little pair on a card for her.

The card is fairly simple, but I didn't want to overwhelm the sweet image or the embossed & shimmery PP from My Mind's Eye. I added texture by running my scalloped circle through the swirls CB folder to echo the sheeps' wooly curls, and used two shades of pink pigment ink to distress the sentiment penant.

Hope you are enjoying the FWF hop! All the participants are listed on the fabulous Unity blog. And when you're done with FWF, head over to the {ippity} blog - sneak peeks of the new release started yesterday!

Valentine Hugs,

Now it's Mom's Turn!

ETA: Here's the card! On the left I used my designer label punch to punch the sentiment "Relax...it's your day." I layered it onto more of the pink and brown latticework paper and trimmed it to the same shape. TFL!

Today is my mom's birthday!!!
My sister and I took her to tea yesterday and as always it was super scrump-deli-icious! And what a gorgeous day! Tonight the whole family is going to one of my mom's favorite restaurants - good old Olive Garden. She was just telling me last week that she had a yen for soup, salad and breadsticks, but we'll try to get her to eat more than that! (She's a tiny little thing!) And unbeknownst to her, my sister picked up and has been hiding her favorite cake! My dad always wants a homemade cake, but my mom loves bakery cake...something about the frosting.
Once again, I'll have to post the card I made for her later, but I think it'll be worth the wait. I gave it to her this morning, and when you see it, you'll see why I didn't wait until tonight like I normally would.
If you saw my Mother's Day card, you know how awesome I think my mom is. Please join me in wishing her a fantastic b-day - she totally deserves it!

Super Mom

Here's the Mother's Day card I made for my mom, who is, in fact, super.

I used two different pattern papers I had been hoarding (what else is new), and made the black scallop with the SU! corner rounder punch (guard removed). The main image is Super Woman from Amuse, stamped in Palette Black and colored with Copics. I used the SU! Ticket Corner punch on both layers. The sentiment is stamped in SU! Real Red and Palette Black using David Walker Creative Rubber Stamps (25% off at my local Archivers - love that!) for "Super" and Penny Black Kate Text for "Mom," punched out with the SU! Key Tag punch I just got, and edged with more Palette Black to make it stand out. Both the main image and sentiment are on pop dots. 5 clear bling gems on the scallop and a black satin ribbon to top it off.

My mom got such a kick out of this card! It was great to see! We had a wonderful day - and she felt extra special because we celebrated on Saturday instead of Sunday. I did the cooking, because she said, "All I want is to not have to cook." But, she didn't want to go out either because, "I don't want to be herded around with all the other mothers." Gotta love her! As luck would have it, Saturday was the perfect day - beautiful and sunny, while Sunday was gloomy with rain and a chill. A super day for Super Mom!
Thanks for looking,
