Oh, Alice: Chapter 2 - Redo

What does it mean when you go from excitedly saying "Oh, Alice!" to sighing to yourself, "Oh, Catherine..."????? Because that's what I've been doing since posting my last Oh, Alice DT card. I love letting my creativity run chaotically free (hence the messy craft areas), but then there's the OCD part of myself (washing my hands so many times, they look as dry as the Sahara). Do you ever have something in mind - such a specific idea of the vibe you're going for - but it just doesn't come out quite right? That's how I feel about my first card for this week's sketch challenge. And I just couldn't let it go. So here's my second stab at Chapter 2: Running in a Sketchy Circle . (Talk about running in circles! LOL!)
My goal all along was to focus on the dark quality of the Queen of Hearts, even though Kathy's PDS image is such a cutie. What to do, what to do... And then, to borrow an expression from Gomer Pyle, SHAZAM! I realized what I was going for was a contradiction in terms. Hence, Bittersweet pattern papers from Basic Grey! :D

The heart was traced and trimmed using a chipboard template. I wanted the dress to be dark, but also perfectly coordinated with the papers, so I blended N9, N10 and E49, and also used it to color the pearl heart, which was originally white.

Now I'm happy. Now I can sleep at night. Now I can stop running in circles.

Hugs,

Your comment put a big smile on my face. I have missed you! I haven't been surfing the blogs too much lately - I'll try to catch up soon on all you've been up to.

Bonnie is back to her old self today, being silly and dancing, but still has a little teeny cough.

James will LOVE his package - you are so generous to do that and I appreciate it so much!!!!

The grandbaby is 1 month old yesterday. He looks adorable from all the pics Keri texts me. I can't wait to see him in person and hold him.

Mama is doing well. She graduated from physical therapy this week with the understanding she has to continue to do her exercises at home - I hope she does. She isn't cleared to drive - thank God! And she gets "cabin fever" for not being able to get out on her own and just be by herself some. She has her up days and her depressed days and calls me often if I'm not calling her. I just sent her a bunch of Cricut cuts and stamped images this week for her to color and play with. She loved that. It's something she can do in "her chair". LOL She's like Archie Bunker with her chair.

Tom is volunteering this weekend and has to be there from about 6 in the morning to around 2 in the afternoon. That's just too long for me and Bonnie to sit in the cold with her health right now. So I like your idea of staying in our jammies.... hm..... we make it a "girl's day" party and do our nails. LOL

How are you doing? I'm not caught up in blogland, so I have no idea what you've been up to. I like the new style to your page though. And the cards I saw just today look fabulous, of course, they always do. I need to get one of those card holders you use. That's a good idea.

Big hugs and smiles to you. You've made my day!

I really LOVE the papers and the heart on this one...and I always love your Copic coloring!! Love that little beaded heart too! Going to see the movie tonight? I heard HBC totally steals the show as Queenie!
